According to this Marketwatch article by Peter Brimelow, Dan Sullivan’s The Chartist newsletter returned 4.06% annually over the 5-year period ending April 23, 2009. If you aren’t familiar with The Chartist, it is my understanding that it is one of the most respected stock newsletters available based on performance measures by Hulbert Financial. Just for kicks, I compared the returns of my 1X ETF timer models over the same five year period.

Relative to the broad US stock market indices, The Chartist had an exceptional 5-year performance of 25.2%. I am pleased to note that all my 1X ETF timer models performed better than The Chartist. On average, the models presented in the above table beat The Chartist by 67% over the 5-year period.
